Mangaluru: An LPG tanker overturned near Nanthoor circle during the wee hours of Wednesday, on November 21.

According to the sources, LPG tanker was plying from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. When it reached near Nanthoor circle, the tanker driver lost control over his vehicle and it overturned at around 3.50 AM. As the result, the driver was injured and admitted to a private hospital in the city. The reason for this accident is said to be the negligence of the driver and a case has been registered against the driver at Kadri police station in this regard.

Though the incident occurred at around 3.50 AM, the tanker has not been removed so far. Despite a crane being pressed into action to lift it from the place, it could not succeed in its effort. Hence, another crane has been called in. However, no leakage of gas has been reported, police sources said.

Electricity supply in the area has been disconnected to avert untoward incidents. As there is traffic congestion at the place, police have asked the general public to avoid Nanthoor junction.

Nanthoor junction has been notorious for the mishap of this kind.
