Mangaluru: Despite orders being issued that no discussion should be made against the Ayodhya verdict, some miscreants have gone ahead and made comments against the verdict on social media, ultimately landing behind bars.
A similar incident of instigating communal tension is reported to have occurred in the district. According to reports, two miscreants were allegedly found distributing pamphlets in the Kodi village (under the Ullal Police Station limits) with messages against the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ayodhya land title dispute.
Although Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has confirmed the arrest of the miscreants, he has not revealed any further information for security reasons.
According to sources, the miscreants, alleged to be in support of a particular group, organized an event on Saturday, November 16, and were distributing pamphlets and pasting handbills with content against the Ayodhya verdict on the walls of a few buildings.
It is also reported that, after the arrest was made, a large number of people had gathered outside the Ullal Police Station demanding the release of the miscreants.
Meanwhile, in order to maintain law and order, the Ullal area has been brought under police vigilance with additional security.
