Mangaluru: A student named Deeksha who was stabbed by accused Sushanth on June 28 at Deralakatte and was rushed to K S Hegde Hospital is gradually recovering.

According to the sources, 20-year-old Deeksha who was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under observation, is being treated by seven specialist doctors, who are ensuring her complete recovery.

It may be recalled that on June 28, Deeksha, a resident of Bagambila was stabbed by Sushanth, a resident of Shakthinagar.

Sushanth (28) is a dance teacher by profession and Deeksha attended his dance class.

He had tried to kidnap in vain Deeksha after she rejected his love proposal.

Though he was behind bars for this act, he was on a hunch for revenge.

Eventually, he avenged the rejection by stabbing Deeksha over 12 times in different areas of the body. She was severely injured on her stomach and chest.

When people around the area went to her rescue, he threatened to end his life with the same knife and slit his throat. When an ambulance reached the spot, the scene became more dramatic, when he lied on Deeksha, not allowing the hospital staff to take her.

Later, she was rushed to the K S Hegde Hospital in a critical condition and kept under observation. After several medical checkups and an operation, the doctors and her family members have confirmed that she is now responding to the treatment and gradually recovering too.

Sushanth too was rushed to the hospital and treated.
