Mangaluru: Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader announced that several major works would be undertaken under the city beautification scheme including decking up of Kadri Park road and underpass at Mahakalipadu near Mangaladevi.
Speaking to reporters at the Circuit House on Wednesday, October 3, Khader said, “A total of Rs 12 Crore is earmarked to beautify the Kadri Park road. Under this project, Kadri Park road will become a smart road with shops and smart polls. Meanwhile, a road underbridge (RuB) at Mahakalipadpu railway level crossing, will come up at a cost of Rs 30 Crore. Of the total, Rs 10 Crore will be provided to the Railway Department to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other works and the remaining amount will be used to acquire land”, he said.
Informing about the other developmental works, Khader said, “The slaughterhouse at Kudroli will be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 Crore. Importance will be given to hygiene and a storm water drain will also be set up near the slaughterhouse. The work on swimming pool at Emmekere will also be taken up shortly. The new market will be set up at Urwa Store and Kankanady. A new bridge will come up between the two old bridges at Kuloor, for which a DPR has been done and further processes will be taken up soon”, he said.
Lady Goschen Hospital to be inaugurated on October 14
Informing about the inauguration date of the new building of Lady Goschen Hospital Khader said that though the inauguration was scheduled on October 11, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will come to inaugurate the Mangaluru Dasara on October 14. Hence, inauguration date would be postponed to October 14. However, the final decision will be taken only after discussing with the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas”, he said.
