Man arrested for attempting to sell fake gold

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Police have arrested a 21-year-old man on June 5, for attempting to sell fake gold ornaments by claiming them as genuine.

The accused has been identified as Praveen Veera Rathod, a resident of Ramtech, Nagpur in Maharashtra. Police arrested the accused from Thokottu and confiscated 900 grams of spurious gold from him.

Reportedly, Praveen had approached Lokesh Kumar, owner of “Yes My Shop Fancy” to sell gold ornaments. He had claimed that the ornaments were worth Rs 30 Lakh and demanded a payment of Rs 3 Lakh for them as he was in dire need of money. As Lokesh grew suspicious, he informed the police about it.

Acting on the information, Ullal Police have arrested the accused with help of the shop owner.
