Mangaluru: A 45-year-old man was killed and four others were injured when a car, plying on the newly inaugurated Pumpwell flyover hit against another car plying on the opposite direction and fell down on Saturday, February 8.
The deceased has been identified as Praveen Fernandes, a resident of Bajal.
According to police sources, Praveen and two others were plying in a Duster from Thokkottu to Nanthoor. Meanwhile, an Alto, which was heading from Nanthoor to Thokkottu on the flyover, hit the median, rammed into the Duster and fell from the flyover onto the service road below. As a result, Praveen and the two others, who were inside the second car, were seriously injured.
Even though the two were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, Praveen succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, two people who were inside the Alto were also injured and rushed to the hospital, where they are recuperating, sources said.
A case has been registered at the Traffic South police station in this regard.
