Man stabbed in Mangaluru for opposing drug addiction, peddling

Mangaluru: An incident of stabbing a Karate teacher for complaining against alleged marijuana consumption has been reported from Ullal here on Tuesday October 20.

Harish Ganiga (42) has been identified as the victim and Vishal AKA Vikas is the culprit who has been alleged of stabbing the former.

Vishal stabbed Harish at latter’s gas spare shop near Ullal Veerabhadra Temple. As Harish was rushed to a private hospital in Derlakatte, he was saved despite life-threatening injuries.

It is said that Harish has complaint to the police many times stating that youth including Vishal were indulging in drug consumption and other unlawful activities. Further, he had also complained to the police that there was a life threat to him from Vishal and his group.

Also, Harish had lodged a complaint with the police against Vishal about a month ago, and they had summoned Vishal to the station Tuesday morning. Enraged by this, Vishal stormed into Harish’s shop on Tuesday evening with weapons, and subsequently assaulted and stabbed Harish. It is said that delay in police action resulted in Tuesday’s incident.
