Udupi: Armaan, a B.Tech student of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) has entered the Guinness World Record, by creating the world’s longest selfie stick.
Earlier, on April 11, he made an demonstration of his newly created selfie stick measuring 10.39 metres, which is said to be the longest in the world, at the MIT grounds in presence of six witnesses – S.J. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, G.K. Prabhu, Director of MIT, B.H.V. Pai, Joint Director, Narayan Shenoy, Associate Director, B.K. Singh, Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Indrali Jayakar Shetty, General Manager of Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. .
Armaan, son of Mohommed Soorinje and Rehana from Mangaluru, is a student of sixth semester (B.Tech.) of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MIT.
Armaan had sent an application to the Guinness World Records few months ago for creating a new record of longest selfie stick. As the application was accepted, he started working on it. He has made as many as 8 trials before creating the stick measuring 10.39 metres.
Guinness World Record holder for the world’s longest stick till date was Ben Stiller (USA) for his selfie stick which measured 8.56 metres.
Armaan says that he was delighted to receive the certificate for his feat from the Guinness World Record certificate, London by courier on May 30.
After this, Arman says he does not want to rest as he is gearing up to break his own record by designing a 12-metre long selfie stick either in July or August.
