Mangaluru: The public has expressed anger over the dismantlement of the road connecting Bakrabailu – Kadamajalu – Kallarakatte – Malaru – Karpikar under Manjeswara Varkadi Gram Panchayat limits. They have put up banners on the roadside against the people’s representatives.
It has been more than 40 years since this road was constructed but the entire road is yet to be asphalted. Though the asphalting of half the road was done many years ago, it has now fully gone and it has become difficult for motorists to move around.
On a daily basis, motorists on this side are forced to get up and move on this pot-holed road due to the gravel that has risen from the incomplete work. Though there are many houses in the area, people are struggling without a road. People are forced to carry goods as autorickshaws are reluctant to ply in this area.
Many students are going to school from the same area. But since buses and other vehicles do not ply on this road, they have to walk. Though there are mosques and religious places in Bakrabailu Malaru Brahmasthanam and other shrines through this road, the people’s representatives have shown indifference in repairing the road.
The candidate standing from the ward where this road is located has failed to provide funds for the road despite being the Panchayat President during the last term and even during this period.
Though many of the roads in the area, which were constructed after this road, have been asphalted, the people’s representatives have failed to develop this road so far.
