Mangaluru: Anna Mascarenhas, the editorial coordinator of a Mangaluru-based magazine, passed away on Saturday, May 2, after a three-year-long battle with cancer.

Anna is the wife of Stephen Mascarenhas (also known as Hemacharya), the editor-in-chief of the magazine. In December 2017, the family suffered the tragic loss of Ian Mascarenhas, the couple’s son, when he lost his life due to a car accident.

She is survived by her husband, daughter Ina Mascarenhas, mother and brothers.

As we are currently under lockdown, Anna’s funeral ceremony was held as per the guidelines issued by the district administration. Close relatives and friends were present. Her body was blessed in a simple ceremony at the Ave Maria palliative care, led by Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, who is the parish priest of the Bondel Church.

As per her wishes, her body was then handed over to the medical institution for research.

Once the lockdown is lifted, a thanksgiving mass will be offered in her memory.
