Mangaluru: A case has been registered at Moodabidri Police Station against Srinivas Gowda, popularly known as Usain Bolt of Kambala. A criminal complaint too has been filed.
Lokesh Shetty, a member of Dakshina Kannada District Kambala Samiti, has lodged a complaint at the Moodabidri Police Station against Srinivas Gowda who broke the bolt’s record. Accused has forged documents that he has broken Usain’s record and thus cheating Government and public of the money. A criminal complaint has also been filed against Kambala runner Srinivas Gowda, Gunapala Kadamba of Kambala Academy and Ratnakar, owner of Cyvieve organisation, who declares the results of Kambala through laser beam.
It is alleged that the record of the false judgment was given by an unaccredited, and unreliable Cyvieve organisation, which is not officially recognised. If the police do not investigate, the complainant has warned of filing a private suit in the court.
On February 1, 2020, at Aikala Kambala, Srinivas Gowda had covered the distance of 100 metres in 9.55 seconds. In 2009, Usain Bolt set a record of covering 100 metres in 9.58 seconds. Several organisations in the country, including the State Government, had helped Srinivas Gowda.
A complaint has been lodged in police station against Usain Bolt of Kambala, said Mangaluru Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar. He said Lokesh Shetty, a member of the Kambala Samiti, has lodged a complaint with the Moodabidri Police. Three persons have cheated in the name of Kambala Samiti, he has alleged. They cheated Government and public by creating fake documents, following which lakhs of rupees were collected in the name of the committee, complaint adds.
Further, complainant states that the money was not accounted. The complaint is currently lodged against the three. I have instructed for an inquiry into the complaint. The Inspector of Moodabidri will inquire into the matter and investigate the veracity of the matter, he added.
