Mangaluru city cops nab two women robbers, seize gold worth Rs 2.64 lac

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police has nabbed two women in connection to various theft cases reported in the city limits.
The arrested are Silvi (24) and Arayi (22), both from Mettupalayam in Tamil Nadu. The duo was nabbed by the police on Saturday near Roopavani theatre, when they were trying to sell off the stolen gold in the city.

The two used to target lone women walking on the streets and women plying in crowded buses and rob their gold and cash by diverting the attention of the targets. On 29-07-2016, the duo had robbed a lady named Leelavathi off Rs 1.58 lac while she was plying by a local bus to Kankanady, robbed 40 gms gold from a lady who was walking near Sutharpet and a gold chain of another lady who was waiting for a bus near Kankanady.

The police has seized gold worth Rs 2.64 lac and Rs 1.45 lac in cash from them.
