Mangaluru: A Mangaluru district jail inmate was successful in hoodwinking prison authorities and escaping from the confines of the jail here in the wee hours of Friday, March 10.
The inmate identified as Jinnappa, was serving jail term since 2015 and was facing trial in several cases including a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
It is gathered that Jinnappa, despite the heightened security arrangement at the district jail following incidences of smuggling of cellphones, ganja etc, was successful in fleeing from the district jail.
