Mangaluru: The residents are worried because of an inhumane incident wherein drinking water source of the Town has been poisoned.

Thousands of fishes have died as a result of water of the Somavati River flowing near the town being poisoned. Thousands of fishes have died as a result of poisoning the unit in the river which was supplying water to the Town.

The town currently requires 10 lakh litres of water per day. Water was supplied through dams. But water supply has been stopped due to poisoning.

This type of act was carried out in the same place three years ago. A case was registered against the culprit. Now the Town Panchayat has decided to file a complaint against the act at the Belthangady Police Station.

In the situation where the water in the river is drying up and there is a shortage of drinking water, a lot of resentment has been expressed by the people against those who have committed such an act.
