Mangaluru: A massive forest fire was witnessed at Alekhanhoratti Hill at Charmadi Ghat in Chikkamagaluru District Division on Sunday March 5.
The Forest Department is trying hard to bring the fire under control as the fire is burning in the high-altitude hill. It is suspected that miscreants may have set fire to it and a large number of forest trees have been destroyed.
There is a situation where the fire tender cannot go as it is a high altitude area.
Meanwhile, a fire broke out near the Matha Majalu. It is learnt that somebody had set fire to a heap of garbage lying on the side of the highway near Matga Majalu in Charmadi area of Belthangady Taluk and there was no major damage as the local Forest Department personnel swung into action as it spread towards the forest area.
