Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized gold weighing 7,692 gm of 24-carat purity gold from 10 male passengers in November.
The value of seized gold is worth Rs. 4,01,18,280.
The passengers arriving from Dubai tried to smuggle gold using different modus operandi such as concealment in LED bulbs, wrist watch, keypad mobile phone, beading of trolley bags, silver coated plates in the motor of cappuccino maker, paste/powder form inside layers of carton box, double layered west, underwear and socks worn by passengers and in the rectum.
