Mangaluru: The Customs Officer at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) seized 2870 gms of 24-carat purity gold worth Rs. 1,46,87,410 in the seizure operations carried out from October 22 to October 31.
According to officials, the gold was seized from six passengers who arrived from Dubai.
The gold was smuggled using several methods, including concealment in the form of paste or powder mixed with solid gum inside a double-layered vest (baniyan), under the waist of jeans pants, in the pax’s shoes, and the rectum.
