Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport (MIA) seized smuggled gold worth Rs. 1.59 Crore from 5 passengers between October 8 and 21.
According to the officials, the gold was smuggled through different modus operandi such as concealment in paste or powder form mixed with solid gum inside jeans, trousers underwear and in the rectum.
Passengers were also found smuggling gold using towels that had been dipped in a solution that contained gold.
