Mangaluru: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday December 17 criticised the State government’s criticised neglect and injustice towards backward-class communities on the question of reservation in local bodies.

Speaking to mediapersons in Belthangady, he claimed that the government of Basavaraj Bommai had failed to hold elections for local bodies within the time allotted.

The government had been given till March 31, 2023, by the Supreme Court, to finalise the OBC communities’ reservation. The government’s delay in organising local body elections show that it is not serious about conducting them and they are doing nothing about quota issues, he added.
