Mangaluru Mayor inspects progress of Rs 26.5 Crore worth developmental work

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation(MCC) Mayor K Bhaskar Moily on July 12, inspected various developmental works undertaken by the corporation at a cost of Rs 26.5 Crore.

Speaking to media after inspecting the Mangaluru City Corporation swimming pool, Bhaskar said, “The construction work of the restrooms and toilets in the swimming pool has been completed. In addition to it, the City Corporation will spend Rs 20 Lakh for the installation of Ozonation System for swimming pool. A proposal has been sent to the deputy commissioner and it is under consideration.”

For providing a much-needed facelift to the Kadri Park, the MCC has already spent Rs 12 Lakh for the construction of a toilet in the park. “Under the Amruth scheme, the city corporation will soon start works for constructing an open gym, 600-meter sand track and other developmental works with an outlay of Rs 116 Lakh at the Kadri Park”, Bhaskar said.

The Mayor also informed about the other on-going and upcoming projects taken up by the MCC. “The construction work of four-kilometer road from Vamanjoor to Bondel is in progress. MCC has already spent Rs 3.69 Crore on the work and to the complete entire work, an additional Rs 3.5 Crore is required and this will be completed very soon,” he said.

The one-kilometer long Padil-Bajal road will be completed very soon. The developmental works of the 1.23-kilometer model road from Kankanady Fr. Muller Hospital to Koti-Chennayya Circle is under progress and the MCC has spent Rs 90 Lakh for the installation of Conical Outdoor Lighting Poles for this road, the Mayor added.

The Mangaluru City Corporation has already sanctioned Rs 490 Lakh for the Nanthoor Circle to Morgansgate road development and released Rs 190 Lakh for the development of Sturrock Road in the city. The Jeppu-Kudpady road widening work at a cost of Rs 43.27 Lakh is under progress. The City Corporation has already spent Rs 205 Lakh for the development of Pumpwell-Kankanady (Railway station) on road widening work.

Deputy Mayor Mohammed Kunjathbail, Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, opposition party leader Premananda Shetty among others were present on the inspection.
