Mangaluru: The fire that broke out at Neerthane, Kotihittilu, Mundrupadi, Ikkala and other places in Mundaje – Dharmasthala Reserve Forest area has spread to the forests in Pilathadka and Kombinadka areas and the Forest Department personnel and locals are trying their best to bring it under control.
More than 50 acres of land has been destroyed in the fire, with the fire spreading further and there is a possibility of more damage.
Though the operation to bring the fire under control has been going on for the last three days, the fire is not fully under control. On the one hand, while the fire is being extinguished, the operation is getting complicated. Amidst the scorching Sun, extreme heat and the intensity of the fire, the operation went on without proper water and food.
Mangaluru Assistant Conservator Of Forests (ACF) Sridhar P., Belthangady Range Forest Officer Thyagaraj visited the operation sites and inspected them.
