Mangaluru: Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot said, “With a view to giving importance to mother tongue, the Central Government has implemented National Education Policy (NEP). The objective of the education policy is to impart education through the respective regional languages.”

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Vivekananda Arts, Science and Commerce Autonomous College here in Puttur he said, “Many developed countries of the world are recognised by their mother tongue. Mandarin in China, French in France, and German in Germany are the examples. The National Education Policy has been implemented with the same objective, he said.

“Karnataka is the first State in the country to adopt NEP. Sports along with education have also been given importance in the NEP. People’s participation is essential for the success of the NEP”, Governor added.
