Mangaluru: After capturing the wild elephant that killed two persons in Renjiladi Village, the Forest Department is continuing its search for the remaining elephants. But the elephants are changing locations and hence there has been a need to shift the operation to that part.

The Forest Department Nursery in Gundya area have been damaged by wild elephants and the operation has been shifted to that area. The operation to capture the elephants will be carried out only after they are first traced.

Out of the total five elephants, Abhimanyu and another elephant have been sent along with the captured elephant. The remaining 3 elephants have been kept at a camp near Nettaru.

If wild elephants are found in Gundya or any other part of the region, they will be given anaesthesia injections and then elephants will undertake their operation.

Police has arrested seven persons in connection with the clash that took place on Thursday February 23 night when the wild elephant was being captured and loaded into a lorry. While carrying the wild elephant, the locals insisted on leaving the spot only after capturing all the disturbing elephants.

An argument ensued and the locals turned against the staff. Police has thus arrested seven people in connection with the clash.

The arrested have been identified as Umesh, Rajesh Kannadka, Janardhan Rai, Kokila Nanda, Theerthakumar, Gangadhara Gowda and Ajith Kumar
