Mangaluru: Muneer Katipalla, State President of DYFI, on February 16, informed that the CPI (M) Mangaluru South and North Constituencies will hold “Mangaluru City Corporation Chalo”, on February 20 at around 10 AM.

Addressing a press meet here in the city, Muneer said, “The Communist Party of India CPI(M) has decided to hold Mangaluru City Corporation Chalo to demand a high level inquiry into the irregularities in the ADB first phase project of laying underground drainage and demanding the cancellation of the tender allotted to two companies in the second phase of the ADB project for replacing the 11.40 km long old sewage pumping line costing Rs 94 crore.”

Muneer also alleged that the original estimate of the cost of replacing the old sewage pumping line was Rs 60 Crore but it was later increased to Rs 94 Crore. He also alleged that the two companies which participated in the e-tender process, secured the tender by using “tactics of understanding.”

“In this regard, I have written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding the cancellation of the tender”, Muneer added.

He also questioned the silence of MLA J R Lobo and MLA Moideen Bhava on this issue.

“The Communist Party demands a high level investigation into the irregularities of the first phase of the ADB project. It can be done either by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or any other high level investigation agency”, he said.

He also accused State Minister Roshan Baig of failing to hand over the case to the CID.

Communist leader Sunil Kumar Bajal, Santhosh Bajal and others were present at the press meet.
