Mangaluru: Manikya Associates Manpower Consultancy firm accused of cheating aspirants by assuring them jobs in Kuwait, has clarified that it had never cheated anybody on the pretext of providing job and that there was no role of Manikya Associates in the stranding of youth in Kuwait.

Addressing the reporters at Patrika Bhavan on June 1, Manikya Associates proprietor Prasad Shetty said, “The company had sent a total of 58 youths to Hawk Consultancy Pvt Ltd, Mumbai and this consultancy had arranged for jobs at Aspect Petroleum Services Company in Kuwait. All the 58 men were aware of this when they left Mangaluru. Our company had only acted as a link to the Mumbai firm and there is no role of Manikya Associates in those youths getting stranded in Kuwait”.

“Though some youth have been alleging against Manikya Associates on social media platforms stating that our company has cheated them, it is far from the truth.  However, Manikya Associates would be ready to extend all possible help to bring them back to India on humanitarian grounds”, Prasad Shetty added.

Meanwhile, Manikya Associate’s legal adviser Purandara Shetty stated that Manikya Associates was running legally and that it had all the essential documents to run the business. “It is suspected that the youth who had been to Kuwait did not work properly, due to which they were shifted to another company there. Parents send their children to school and colleges. If the children do not study well, it is not the problem of parents. The same logic applies here too”, he said.

It may be noted that a video clipping of a few youths who are stranded in Kuwait went viral on social media, wherein they allege that Manikya Associates had collected money from them offering jobs in Kuwait but did not get them proper work there.  The youth also appeal with MLA D Vedavyas Kamath in the video clipping, to bring back them back safely from Kuwait. Though measures are in progress to bring them back, they are yet to reach Mangaluru. It may be also noted that Mangaluru North police have registered suo-moto case against Manikya Associates in this regard.
