The project which was initiated in April 2013 finally got underway in July 2014 after fishermen in the area protested against the delay. The port coming up in an area covering 16 hectares will be able to accommodate 300 fishing trawlers at once. Jetty measuring 530 meters on the northern side and 490 meters on the southern side will be constructed in the port.
