Mangaluru: While marriages are said to be made in heaven, fixing them on earth could be a challenge sometimes. However, online matrimonial sites open a whole new plethora of choices, where one can find a life partner, who is compatible to one’s personality.

Newly launched amorismatrimony.com aims to be the one stop destination for the members of the entire Christian community to find suitable life partners.

Amoris Matrimony launched on October 26 at Bishop’s House by Mangaluru bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, is the brainchild of Melvin Manoj Rodrigues.

A native of Kundapur and the only son to his parents Monthu and Winifred, Melvin pursued B Com at Bhandarkar’s College, Kundapur. In 2011, he started hosting Christian engagement, roce, wedding and other events and later moved to Kuwait for better job prospectus.

It is here, Melvin came across many youngsters abroad as well as in India, struggling to find good marriage prospectus. He saw some people paying as much as Rs 50,000 to marriage brokers and some of them being deceived.

In 2017, Melvin married Glenita Moria from his parish. However, he wanted to do something for the youth and hence an idea of starting a Christian matrimonial site stuck him with the intention of bringing eligible brides and grooms on one platform.

For this, Melvin visited several parishes in the coastal districts to seek advice, blessings and goodwill of people. When the website was created, Fr Rayan OCD coined the name ‘Amoris’ inspired from ‘Pope Francis’ post-synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia’ which means ‘the Joy of Love’.

On October 26, the portal was launched by the bishop in presence of Msgr Fr Maxim Noronha Vicar General Mangaluru Diocese, Fr Victor Vijay Lobo PRO of Mangaluru diocese, Fr Rayan Pais, Fr Ligory Crasta and Fr Clifford Pinto.

“To reach this zenith there are many who helped me. I am grateful to them. When I shared my dreams with my friends they have supported my new project. My friends Sunil Prasanna and Pace Media director Rajesh and Nelson, Praveen from Daijiworld have always encouraged me. Hope Amoris Matrimony will bring a new beginning to youth, helping them find their dream partners and build happy families,” Melvin says.
