Mangaluru: Mangaluru Mayor Kavitha Sanil along with city corporation officials raided an illegal skill game centre here on July 6.

It is learnt that the mayor acted on a complaint by a woman who had approached her regarding her son squandering huge amounts of money at the illegally operated skill game centre.

As soon as the MCC officials raided the skill game centre, nearly 200 people who were playing fled the spot through different doors. It is also learnt that the said skill game centre had no license from the MCC. It was being run in the basement of a building in Jyothi meant for vehicle parking.

Speaking to media, Mayor said, “This skill game centre had no trade licence from the MCC. Moreover, it is located in the parking area of the building. Several students in the city are visiting this illegally run skill game centre. Hence the MCC has initiated action.”

She also said that it was impossible to run such illegal skill game centres in the heart of the city without the knowledge of the police hinting that they should initiate proper action against such irregularities.
