MCC Bank bags ‘Best Performing’ award

Mangaluru: The cooperative department of the government of Karnataka has recognized the endeavours of the city-based Mangalore Catholic Cooperative (MCC) Bank Ltd and declared it to be the ‘Best Performing Bank’ in Dakshina Kannada.

The ‘Best Performing Bank’ award was handed over to Francis Cutinho, chairman and Sunil Menezes, general manager, by H S Mahadeva Prasad, minister for cooperatives and sugar, government of Karnataka in a ceremony held at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru, in the presence of B Ramanath Rai, minister for forests, and district in-charge minister, U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies, Ivan D’Souza, chief whip, Karnataka Legislative Council, Dr Rajendra Kumar, chairman, SCDCC Bank, Mangaluru and other dignitaries including senior officers of the cooperative department.

The function was held to commemorate the 63rd All India Cooperative Week. MCC Bank vice-president Alwyn Patrao, directors Marcel D’Souza, Archibald Menezes, Stephen Pinto, Branch Managers and staff were present.

MCC Bank, Mangaluru was established in the year 1912 by the well meaning leaders of the Mangaluru Catholic community. It is at present led by the board of directors under the dynamic leadership of Francis Cutinho. The Bank presently has 16 branches in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada. It has a deposit corpus of Rs 295.62 crore and has advanced Rs 176.59 crore to its members. The total reserves are Rs 28.50 crore. Effective and efficient management as well as the quality of services in the Bank have resulted in profit making since the last 7 years consecutively and the members are given dividends.

The Bank has moved forward with modernizing initiatives such as core banking solutions as well as ‘anywhere banking’, and soon the Bank is expected to have its own ATM and intends to provide SMS service to its esteemed customers and to the members.

The bank also had won the best performence award in Mysuru division during Karnataka Urban Co-Operative Banking Summit held at Belagavi on 19th and 20 Novemeber 2016.Mysore division comprises Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
