It may be recalled that the first two COVID-19 victims of the district- two women related to each other, hailing from Bantwal were denied cremation at several crematoriums in the city.

The locals had objected on the grounds that if the COVID-19 victims are cremated in the vicinity the lives of local residents will be at risk.

The Mayor has said that there are no chances of anybody contracting the infeection if a victim is cremated in the locality and hence people must allow the cremation to happen without any fear or apprehension.
