Mangaluru: Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi has decided to cancel her planned visit to Mangaluru and Udupi today. This decision reportedly stems from her disappointment over not receiving a ticket to recontest from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming elections.
Originally, Lekhi was scheduled to engage with beneficiaries of various Central government schemes at ‘Sanghaniketan’, the RSS office in Mangaluru, and deliver a lecture at the ‘Chinthan Ganga’ event in Udupi. The BJP had advertised these events with hoardings in both cities.
However, following her exclusion from the list of 195 BJP candidates announced on Saturday, Lekhi has opted to cancel these engagements. The party has instead nominated Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Sushma Swaraj, to contest from the New Delhi constituency, a seat Lekhi has held twice.
