Minister Baig flags off Haj Pilgrimage in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: State Minister for State Haj Committee Roshan Baig flagged off the first batch of Haj pilgrims from Mangaluru to Madeena in Saudhi Arabia, at Ansar School Bajpe here July 24.

After inaugurating the occasion, Roshan Baig thanking Pejawar Seer Sri Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji for holding Ifthar for Muslim community members in the premises of Udupi Matt, said, “I really thank Swamiji for hosting Ifthar for our community. We are really happy for that.”

“Pilgrims should pray for peace in the country. And also pray to stop the injustice and harassment by ‘Gau Rakshaks’ in the country and restoration of peace. Special prayers should be offered for peace and harmony in Coastal Karnataka which is in shambles due to communal violence.”

“The state government under the initiative of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already announced Rs 10 Crore for the Haj Bhavan in Mangaluru. And the government has already released Rs 2.5 Crores for the work, he informed.”

He also asked U T Khader and Moideen Bhava to speed up the process of building Haj Bhavan and complete it within one year.

Nearly 790 Haj Piligrims from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts will leave for Haj tour. Piligrims will be sent in five batches from Mangaluru to Madeena in a special flight. In all, 6000 people from all over Karnataka will leave for Haj Pilgrimage.

State minister B Ramanath Rai, MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bhava, Abhaychandra Jain, MLC IVan D’Souza, Dakshina Kannada Khazi Thakwa Ahmed Musliyar, Khazi Ibrahim Muliyar Bekal and others were present during the occasion.
