Mangaluru: The police on Monday arrested all five accused on charges of gang-raping a minor girl.
The arrested are Prashant Shetty, Salman, Naufal, Suresh and a minor.
The victim approached Kavoor police on Monday, December 28 and had filed a complaint alleging that she was raped by five men. Kavoor police have registered a case under POCSO Act and IPC Section 376 D and are further investigating the case.
In her complaint, the girl stated that Prashanth, the main accused is her neighour and was harassing her from long time. Later he promised to marry her and took sexual advantage. Not only that, he also forced her to have sex with his friends, who took turns in raping her. She further stated that the men threatened her of dire consequences if she did not co-operate.
As per the complaint, on the fateful day, Salman called the girl using Prashanth’s phone and asked her to meet near Panjimogaru bus stop, citing an emergency. The minor picked her from the bus stop on a two-wheeler and took her to a house in Panjimogaru, where the rest of the accused were already present. The girl alleged that she was given a glass of juice and then taken to a room.
After raping her, she is said to have been dropped near a bus stop. A few bystanders, who happened to see her ill, dropped her home.
The girl also revealed to the police that another girl in Thokkottu is about to become the victim of rape and needs to be rescued.
