‘Miss & Mrs Mangaluru 2019 Charity Pageant raises funds for school, village

Mangaluru: Rego Events Private Limited, in association with Rejoyce Mustard Garden Trust, had recently organised Globelink West Star Shipping “Miss & Mrs Mangaluru 2019 Charity Pageant” at Hotel BMS, wherein Srishti Roy was declared title winner of Miss Mangaluru 2019 and Disha Shetty Kadri was declared title winner of Mrs Mangaluru 2019.

Speaking about the event, the organisers told reporters here on Saturday, August 3 that it was held as a fundraiser in order to help the Anegudde School and for the development of the Valpady village.

“Rego Events has been organising the Charity Pageant since 2018 with the sole purpose of supporting the growth of the Valpady village. As the Anegudde school had no basic facilities and the students are from a poor financial background, we decided to extend our help towards the school. After organising the first event, carrom board, football, throwball, cricket bat and ball, badminton and other such items were provided to the school. The required fans and lights were also provided. For the Va;pady village, blankets and grocery items were distributed to 30 families. A summer camp for 110 students of the Anegudde school was also organised with various talent grooming activities,” the organisers explained.

“For 2019, we decided to repair the homes belonging to the students of Anegudde school. A total of four homes need immediate repairs such as flooring, plastering. The estimated cost of the repairs for each home is around Rs 90,000. As one home requires a complete reconstruction, measures will be taken to to get the work done,” they informed.

Addressing the media, Miss Mangaluru 2019 Srishti Roy said, “I had a very nice time throughout the event and I learnt a lot.”

Shwetha Kamath, the first runner up in the Mrs Mangaluru 2019 category said that she was glad to have gotten the opportunity to serve the people through the event.
