Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress president Mithun Rai will be contesting in the upcoming election for state president of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress. The elections will be held between January 10 and 12.
Seven candidates were selected from nine hopefuls after they were interviewed by a committee that included the National President of the Youth Congress in New Delhi.
Some of the other well-known candidates who will be contesting in the election are Raksha Ramaiah, Youth Congress Media coordinator, Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of MLA N A Haris, and Manjunath, the NSUI State President.
Rai has already started campaigning for the election on social media.
Taking to Twitter and other platforms on January 7 afternoon, Rai wrote, “I will be contesting for the State President of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress. Please do cast your valuable vote to me and support me.”

If Rai is successful in his campaign and wins the election, he will be the second politician from the Dakshina Kannada district to be elected to a top post in a major national political party in the state. It can be recalled that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel became the state president of the BJP party in 2019.
