Mangaluru: Chief Minister’s Parliamentary Secretary Ivan D’Souza predicted that coalition candidate Mithun Rai would win the Lok Sabha election with a margin of 1 lakh votes.
Speaking to reporters at the district Congress office on Tuesday, April 16, Ivan said, “The young voters in Dakshina Kannada district are supporting Mithun Rai and they expect a change in this district. They are fed up of the poor performance by sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and they don’t support him again.”
Pointing at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city, Ivan said, “Modi did not speak a single work in connection with the developmental works of his government. He sought votes from the public by speaking emotionally. The people of Dakshina Kannada are disappointed as the promises which were made during the 2014 Lok Sabha election remain unfulfilled”, he said.
Ivan opined that Nalin Kateel Kumar Kateel had failed to prevent the merger of profit-making Vijaya Bank with a bank incurring loss. “As Nalin has no concern for the demands of his own district, people will definitely reject him this time”, he said.
Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Sadashiv Ullal, Vishwas Das among others were present.
