Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo inaugurated city’s first e-toilets at Lalbagh Bus Stand here on July 11.
Mayor Kavitha Sanil was also present during the occasion.
Lauding the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) for the good initiative, the MLA said the corporation had taken up a good initiative with the help of HPCL. E-toilets are very advanced facilities in cities and are necessary for a city like Mangaluru, he added.
Mayor Kavitha Sanil said the e-toilets would be installed in five places in the city. In the coming days, with the help of CSR funds from the corporate companies, MCC will install more toilets in the city, she announced.
Each e-toilet was built at a cost of Rs 6.25 Lakh with donation from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd under the Corporate Social Responsibility fund.
MCC Commissioner Najir, Corporator Shashidhar Hegde, Opposition leader Ganesh Hosabettu and others were present on the occasion.
