Mangaluru: A PhD student, who was stranded in Bengaluru on her arrival from Italy was helped by MLA U T Khader to reach home in Mangaluru safely.
She reached her native on Sunday, April 12 and was welcomed by her family, who heaved a sigh of relief.
Shrimadhu, who originally hails from Kulai on outskirts of the city is pursuing a PhD in Italy.
As a large number of people became victim to the deadly COVID-19 in Italy, Shrimadhu decided to return to India.
Hence, she boarded a flight from Italy on March 14 and arrived at Delhi on March 15. As she came from abroad, she had to remain quarantined.
After the completion of the quarantine period, she came to Bengaluru in a special bus on April 10. As most of her co-passengers were from Bengaluru and from Mysuru, they all returned to their respective homes, while she was left in a lurch in Bengaluru.
All her efforts to seek help from administration yielded no fruits and she was in a state of despair.
Later, Shrimadhu’s parents contacted their legal counsel Arun Bangera and sought his help to ensure that their daughter reached home.
Immediately, Arun approached MLA U T Khader and sought his help.
Fortunately, Khader, who was in Bengaluru promised Bangera that he will ensure that Shrimadhu reached her home safely.
The Good Samaritan Khader, who has already been identified as a politician who goes the extra mile to help people in distress took Srimadhu in his own car and dropped her at her residence in Kulai on Sunday morning.
