Mangaluru: To create peace, harmony and brotherhood among the people, MLC Ivan D’Souza organised ‘Souharda Christmas’ at Kankanady market ground on Sunday, December 23.
Addressing the gathering Ivan said, “festivals of all religions should be celebrated collectively to foster greater inter-faith relationship among people. Hence, I have been organising Ramzan, Diwali and Christmas celebration every year. Instead of fighting each other on the lines of caste and religion, people should join together and celebrate all festivals without any discrimination”, he said.
Religious heads from three major faiths Hinduism, Christianity and Islam gave their message of peace and harmony. Kemaru Eesha Vittaldas Swamiji also spoke on the occasion.
As a part of the celebration Christmas star, carol singing and cake making competitions, Christmas cake exhibition, christmas star, christmas carols competition and various other programmes related to Christmas were organised.
