Mangaluru: A customer at a poultry shop was given a coloured photocopy of the Rs. 100 rupee note as change in Kodimbala.

According to sources, the customer purchased chicken meat from Ashraf’s shop on Saturday June 4. The shopkeeper gave him a photocopy of a Rs. 100 note while returning the change. Later, the customer gave the note to Rajesh, a rickshaw driver, who found it was a Xerox copy of an original note.

Rajesh informed the Kadaba police, who went to the meat shop and questioned Ashraf about the fake notes.

According to Ashraf’s statement, he handed over the note offered by another customer in a hurry without verifying its veracity.
