M’luru: Customs officials at MIA seize gold worth lakhs

Mangaluru: Officers of Mangaluru Customs at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized gold worth Rs. 27,89,700 from a passenger hailing from Kasaragod. He arrived from Dubai by Spice Jet flight No. SC 60 on May 14, informed airport officials.

The gold was packed in three oval-shaped packets in paste form mixed with solid gum. The accused attempted to smuggle it through concealment in the rectum.

Similarly, officials at MIA seized gold worth Rs.39,34,980 from a passenger hailing from Chengala, Kasaragod. According to the officials, he arrived from Dubai by Air India Express Flight No.IX 814. The gold was packed in four oval-shaped packets in paste form mixed with solid gum.
