M’luru: Incident of SDPI activists abusing cops, six held

Mangaluru: Two persons, who allegedly abused police on duty and four others who provided them have been arrested in connection with incident of SDPI activists’ abusing police on duty at a check post in Koddekkal-Kannur on Friday May 27.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday May 31, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that the prime accused Naushad (28) and Hyderali (27) of Inoli as well as Mohammed Syed Afreed (23), Basheer (40), Zubair (32), and Jaleel (25) who provided them shelter were arrested from Mysuru and Bengaluru, he informed.

Shashi Kumar said that the accused were inspired by viral videos of SDPI activists in Kerala’s Alappuzha abusing cops. Also, the accused has confessed that local SDPI leaders too instigated them to verbally abuse the police by assuring protection, he added.
