Mangaluru: The police commissioner N Shashi Kumar informed that A person has been arrested in connection to the extortion and threatening of Kerala-based businessman Haneef.
The arrested has been identified as 33-year-old Divya Darshan.
Haneef was in Dubai and came to India on a business trip to secure a license for bauxite mining. It was during this time that he got in touch with Divya Darshan. Divya had called Haneef to a flat at Kadri claiming that he has a threat to his life and kept him under house arrest for two months, and demanded money on two occasions, first, the accused demanded Rs 30 lakh, and the second time it was Rs 55 lakh.
Haneef registered a complaint against the accused at Kadri Police station. The police assured that they will arrest his associates soon.
