Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar has named a newborn male calf as Appu. The calf was born four days ago. The commissioner and his family admired the actor’s simplicity and were big fans of him.
When the Police Commissioner’s family was deciding on a name for the male calf, his mother suggested to call the calf, Appu.
“Despite being a member of the Raj Kumar family, he has always been humble, and the way the family conducts has been an inspiration to me. I had met Puneeth on quite a few occasions and was amazed by the kind of respect he shows to everyone, whether an officer or a regular fan,” Shashi Kumar recollects.
The officer also has a Jersey cow and calf, as well as a Malnad gidda cow and calf. A local person has been appointed to look after the cattle But, whenever the family has free time, they look after the cattle themselves.
“My mother and sister take care of them as well,” he said.
Commissioner’s family was saddened by Appu’s untimely death, and grieved as if they had lost a family member. He also said that in case they had a newborn in the family, they would have probably named him Puneeth. But, as they had a Malnad Gidda calf who would stay with them, the family named the calf Appu.
