Mangaluru: The Surathkal toll gate will be shifted to the New Mangalore Port Authority’s (NMPA) premises.
During a meeting of a delegation of Members of Parliament led by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari asked the NHAI to shift the toll gate to the NMPA area since the toll gate at Surathkal has been causing people inconvenience.
Only cars entering and exiting the port will be required to pay the toll, said Kateel.
The Minister also directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to widen the highway stretch from Mani to Sampaje and the stretch from Sampaje to Madikeri to four lanes.
The meeting was attended by Mahaveer Singh, member of the NHAI (toll), R. K. Pandey, member of the NHAI, and other top officials, he said.
