Most-anticipated Konkani film ‘Noshibacho Khell’ hits the silver screen

Mangaluru: The much-awaited Konkani movie, ‘Noshibacho Khell’ hit the screens across Dakshina Kannada here on August 12. The movie was released at Prabhath Threatre by Mangaluru Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza in the presence of cast and crew of the movie.

Renowned Konkani movie producer, Richard Castelino, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, Chief whip of the Legislative Council Ivan D’souza were present during the release.

Speaking on the occasion, Henry D’silva, producer of the movie, said that he was inspired by Bishop who started St Joseph Engineering college imparting education to hundreds of youth. “I urge people to support the movie and promote Konkani”, he said.

Bishop Aloysius Paul D’souza urged the Konkani speaking community to watch the film in large number and support the director who has been striving to promote Konkani through this movie.

Richard Castelino urged all the 200 parish priests across the city to encourage the parishioners to watch Konkani movies. He said that Konkani people have excelled in all the fields except in movie-making. “Hence, I urge everyone to watch the movie which has really come out well,” he said.

MLC Ivan D’souza also called upon Konkani community to support the movie as there is a good scope for Konkani movies.

MLA J R Lobo, said, “Movie is not about a language. It is a means of communication. It gives a message and speaks of a particular culture. Mere preaching on promoting Konkani is of no use. We need to teach our children the worth of Konkani language.” he said.

The movie has four shows a day(10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm.)

‘Noshibacho Khell’ is directed by multi-lingual director Harry Fernandes, written and produced by Henry D’Silva Suratkal, under the banner of Kanarites Youth Association, Mumbai Films Pvt Ltd (KYAM) .

The movie took off in November 2015 and Choreographer Elton Mascarenhas of ‘Nach Baliye’ fame and popular singer Ester Noronha are in leading roles. Prince Jacob, Ranjitha Louis, Clenvin Fernandes, Sujatha Andrade, Stany Alvares, Alwyn Andrade and Arun Raj are in supporting roles. Victor Concesso has provided music and composed by Wilson Olivera.
