MP Nalin bats for Kambala, massive protest on Jan 28

Mangaluru: An interactive session was held by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel with the District Kambala Commitee, film actors and Kambala enthusiasts in support of Tulunadu culture Kambala here on January 24.
Addressing the gathering, MP, said, “Kambala sport, a culture of Tulunadu has a history of 800 years. But the people of coastal region took to streets after animal activists of PETA raised objections to Kambala after Jallikattu was banned.”

“But we are happy that the state government led by Siddaramaiah is in support of Kambala and also a committee was formed during Belgavi session in connection with the sport. Also chief minister has asked Centre to lift the ban on Kambala. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will be visiting Mangaluru and we will convince him to take a favourable stand,” he added.

MP further said, “I urge the people of Dakshina Kannada to join us on January 28 where massive protest will be held at Swaraj Maidan with 200 buffaloes. Several organisations are ready to support the protest against ban on Kambala.”

Advocate Pavan Kumar Shetty, Swami Sadguru Shashi Kanth, Actor Naveen D Padil, Director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kalkura, Kambala Commitee President Ashok Kumar Rai, Shantharam Shetty and producer Sundar Rai Mandara were present.
