Mangaluru: The muhurtham of the upcoming Konkani movie ‘Sophiya’ and the banner inauguration ceremony of ‘Janet Noronha Productions’ was held here on September 13.
‘Sophiya’ has the same team as the recent Konkanwood hit film, ‘Nasheebhaacho Khell’. Directed by Harry Fernandez, the man behind the story, narration and filming of ‘Nasheebhaacho Khell’ will be doing the same in ‘Sophiya’ too. There will be seven songs all composed and directed by Gunawanth Sen and Shafique Sheik is the Director of Photography, both part of ‘Nasheebhaacho Khell’ team.
An established Mangalorean female actor who has already made movies in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Tulu and Konkani, Ester Noronha will be the protagonist along with ‘Nasheebhacho Khell’ lead actor Elton Mascarenhas. The man who tickled the funny bone of the same movie watchers, Goan Comedy King ‘Prince Jacob’ will be doing what he does best… again.
“’Sophiya’ is a movie which is family oriented and it can be enjoyed by every member of the family. Be it the suspense, the comedy and romance, every ingredient that makes a movie does pack a punch. Though it’s a romantic movie, it is evenly balanced with all the aspects of life but in it’s own different way”, Ester told News Karnataka when asked about what one can expect out of this movie.
The movie is coming to the big screens sometime in April 2017 after the pre and post-production is complete. As of now, the shooting has just begun.
The Muhurtham of the movie was conducted by Rev. Fr. Henry Sequiera. Chief whip Ivan D’souza and MLA J R Lobo were the chief guests of the event. Bollywood Director Lawrence D’souza, Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino and Director/Producer Richard Castelino were present at the Muhurtham ceremony as well.
