Mangaluru: Six individuals were taken into custody by the police in separate incidents of marijuana use in Mangaluru, Karkala, and Manipal.
In Mangaluru, rural police apprehended Mohammed Tamim (35) and Mohammed Shafi (25) for allegedly consuming marijuana near Mallur Badriya Nagara. The arrests were made during a night patrolling round, conducted by Station Inspector Johnson D’Souza and personnel. A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) against the accused.
In Karkala, city police arrested Velumurugan and Girish, both residents of Nelligudde Crossroad, on charges of attempting to sell and consuming marijuana. The operation was led by PSI Sandeep Kumar, and a case has been registered.
In Manipal, police arrested Yathish Kumar Pai (24) and Sharan (26) for smoking ganja in a public place. Forensic examination confirmed the consumption of marijuana.
