Kasargod: A youth, accused in a murder case was found dead with a mutated head, which was recovered short distance from the crime scene, on April 30 near Melangarakote in Kumble.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Salam (32), a resident of Peruvad, Kumble. It is said that Abdul Salam and his close friend Naushad were moving around with two others in the region in an auto suspiciously on Sunday when the local police took them into custody on grounds that night robberies by threatening commuters has been on the rise. However, at 2 pm, they were released following which Abdul may have been murdered.

The police suspect that the murder may have been executed through contract killers and that Abdul had earned many enemies due to his unruly behaviour.

While Abdul had barged into a person’s house on Saturday night and created ruckus, the police say that sand transporters were attacked and threatened some days ago and Abdul’s name crops up even in this case.

Abdul was an accused in the murder of Shafiq (25), a resident of Perla Kumble, that took place in 2014. Salam had killed Shafiq and then disposed his body in pile of sand near an under-construction house.

He was also accused of setting fire to a new Innova car, police said.
